Tuesday Matinee Film Series - "The Sound of Music"

Come to the library and see this classic American film on the big screen in celebration of the films 60th Anniversary Year!

A tuneful, heartwarming story, it is based on the real-life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world's best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.

The film stars Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.  Directed by Robert Wise.  The film was released in 1965 and is rated G.  Run-time is 2 hours and 52 minutes.

The film also won numerous awards including the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1966.
