Join us for the second of three presentations in this year's Bonnie Katz Film Series, highlighting Trailblazing Women in Cinema. From March through May, the Ossining Public Library will be screening a series of groundbreaking, award-winning films by women directors.

Our second selection is Selma (2014), directed by Ava DuVernay and starring David Oyelowo and Carmen Ejogo. This award-winning portrayal of Dr. Martin Luther King's campaign for equal voting rights and the march on Montgomery, Alabama, was the first work by an African American director to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Ava's Best Director nomination at the Golden Globes was another historic first.

This series is being held in honor of our OPL colleague Bonnie Katz (1952-2021). A librarian and passionate film buff, Bonnie had a positive spirit and outgoing personality, and was a respected member of our profession and the Ossining community.
