Join us for this year's Bonnie Katz Film Series, highlighting Trailblazing Women in Cinema. From March through May, the Ossining Public Library will be screening a series of groundbreaking, award-winning films by women directors.

Our first selection is Nomadland (2020), directed by Chloe Zhao and starring Frances McDormand. This modern nomadic tale, based on a work of nonfiction, follows one woman's attempt to navigate a difficult economic and personal landscape in the aftermath of the Great Recession of 2008. The film swept the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress - Chloe's Best Director award was the first for an Asian American woman and only the second for any woman recipient.

This series is being held in honor of our OPL colleague Bonnie Katz (1952-2021). A librarian and passionate film buff, Bonnie had a positive spirit and outgoing personality, and was a respected member of our profession and the Ossining community.
