Esteemed collaborators with a longstanding partnership, Kristina Cook and Kessa Mefford, will grace us with an afternoon performance featuring select art songs by Ravel. These compositions, spanning nine languages and dialects, will be presented in their original keys from memory – a feat accomplished not only by the vocalist but also by the accomplished pianist.
Kristina and Kessa marked their Carnegie Hall debut in December 2022 with an exceptional rendition of Maurice Ravel's complete art song collection.
Hailing from Chicago, Kristina is a distinguished soprano holding a master's degree in voice from the New England Conservatory. She is an active performer in both Opera and Art Song genres.
Kessa Mefford, an award-winning pianist, specializes in the works of Maurice Ravel. Her performances grace venues across the expanse of the United States, and she additionally curates the acclaimed concert series "Piano at Noon" in her hometown of Peekskill, New York.
Notably, they stand as the pioneering duo to have presented these songs in their entirety, securing their position as the first in the world to achieve this remarkable feat.
