About the play:
On the evening of June 19, 1865, after a long and exhausting day of working in the fields, the enslaved Africans on the Early family plantation in Galveston, TX, retired for the night. An unexpected visitor arrived with news of freedom. Filled with a mix of skepticism and hope, each person had to make a life-changing decision about what to do next.
