Event Details
Join the Ossining Public Library for screenings of three classic films from the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, in beautiful new 4K restorations. Each month in March, May and June we will showcase one of Hitchcock's most celebrated works from the height of his career. Author and film critic Marshall Fine will deliver introductions to each film - via video in March and June, and in-person in May, when he will also be present for a Q+A session after the screening.
North by Northwest (1959) is regarded as one of Hitchcock's finest films and features some of the most iconic scenes in cinema. The director's only production with MGM, it stars Cary Grant as an advertising executive who is mistaken for a spy and is caught in a cat-and-mouse game of espionage that takes him from the streets of Manhattan to the peak of Mount Rushmore. Eva Marie Saint plays a seemingly beneficent figure who appears to help him escape his pursuers.
The Bonnie Katz Film Series is an annual event honoring our OPL colleague Bonnie Katz (1952-2021). A librarian and passionate film buff (and a great fan of Hitchcock), Bonnie had a positive spirit and outgoing personality, and was a respected member of our profession and the Ossining community. We are grateful to the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford for their support.
