Art, creative process, artistic goals

"Experimentation and expansion are natural impulses for me, and they have been part of my artistic (and personal) development since my earliest days. In recent years, however, I have been finding satisfaction in working toward cohesive blocks of work that synthesize many strands of influence. My creative process is informed by art history, but also human history - and my own. I treasure input of multiple sorts, from museum exhibitions to novels, to music, to the news, and certainly to my friends and acquaintances. The richness of life, and often its indignities, ignites my desire to communicate visually with beauty and resonance.

Portraiture is a key interest. Portraits are not just heads in isolation.  I want to imbue my likenesses and figures with ever-more meaning. I always strive for technical growth and excellence, but I am eager to undertake more ambitious, bigger, bolder, thematic challenges and expressions." -- Sharon Rubinstein

My project weaves together my different ways of interacting with the world in its many complexities. The goal is to move, visually intrigue, educate, and galvanize.

An Opening Reception will take place on Sunday, January 11th at 2 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.  All are welcome to attend.
